DU invites applications for English language course

DELHI University's Institute of Lifelong Learning (ILLL) is inviting applications from students interested in joining the four-month English language proficiency course. The course aims to help students to be fluent in English — understand and respond to spoken language, learn to speak fluently and use appropriate expressions, read and comprehend different kinds of texts for different purposes, write coherently and effectively in formal and informal contexts.
   The course will be offered at two levels — basic and intermediate. The basic course is for those who have a preliminary knowledge of the English language but cannot use it in every day situations. The intermediate course is for those who are fairly confident of using the skills of listening, speaking, writing and reading for different purposes at a relatively higher level. The classes will begin from September in 12 different centres of DU.
   All those interested in joining can obtain application forms from the office of ILLL, Academic Research Centre Building, Patel Marg, (Opp. SGTB Khalsa College), University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 on all working days from 10am to 4.30pm or can be downloaded from the website

   According to ILLL sources, based on the number of years you have studied English at school and college levels, and your own assessment of where you stand with regard to your English proficiency, you will be short-listed for the course.
   Each centre will run the course only at one level. The office at the centre will tell you which course is being offered this year. Students will have to pay a demand draft of Rs 2,500 at the time of admission payable at Delhi in favour of Director, Institute of Life Long Learning, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007.
   The short-listed candidates would have to pay a fee of Rs 2,500 by the deadline given by the centre in order to secure admission into the programme.
